April Showers

The good news is that spring is officially here! Coming with it is often times a large amount of rain. Even though you probably spent a good chunk of time cleaning out your gutters in the fall, it is very important to give them a quick inspection in the spring as well. The reason behind this is that it is not uncommon for melting snow and rain to push any kind of debris accumulated over winter towards the downspouts. Once these are clogged, water is no longer able to safely drain from your gutters. If water begins to back up and become stagnant, it has the ability to get under the shingles and create a roof leak. It is also very important to make sure that the water draining from your downspout is not pooling up right next to or against the house. This has the ability to create additional water damage if there are any cracks in your foundation. Inspecting your gutters and downspouts may take a little time, but could save you thousands down the road.
