Preparation Is Key

It is not a matter of if, but rather when something is going to happen. A disaster can and will happen at any moment in time. This can range from a small pipe break, to half of your facility going up in flames. One of the most important things you, as a facility manager, can do is to be prepared. This means knowing where things are located in your facility, and knowing who to call. If somebody were to ask you the name and number of the plumber, or electrician, or building contractor, etc. in an emergency situation, would you know it off hand? This is the problem that many facility managers do not regularly think about. If you do not have a plan in place should an emergency occur, then you are not prepared. The longer a fire burns or water runs, the more money it will cost you. Preparation truly is key to whether your business bounces back, or shuts its doors.
